overview weeks 9 to 14-15 (yes i missed quite a few)

• I continued to work on the use of text by making the text in the shape of items and people, i also looked at different types of text and how to present it with fonts etc.
• I was finally able to work on some ones back, namely my sister so i did quick sketches of the back. i started trying to merge the image with instruments like guitars and violins. i did many variations of it and then found one which i really liked.
• As well as drawing the picture of the back i painted lyrics on my sisters back, as well as f's that are found on violins.
• I tried making pictures using sound vibrations, i used ukelele strings and a bugle

Afterwards i continued with my prints and the films i did present in my book and on the Blog.

Im disappointed i couldn't keep to the overview a week schedule i wanted to do originally.

Addition of Colour

after looking at Norman McLaren and his brightly coloured animations i tried to apply colour into my film like a filter. i looked back at my sound and colour research and decided to try and overlay the colours in the rainbow because people described the vocals as versatile like the rainbow.

Im not entirely sure wether i like it or not because it feels like the film has too much ring on.

Attempt at lining up

i tried overlapping the film with the music but an issue is that the music is longer than the film so i have split the film in to two halves to see how it works (this means speeding it up). this essentially means that the song and film will not be in time with each other however you can't really see them singing any way so i don't feel it matters too much.

The other violin prints

These are the prints I did using collageaph printing.

These two prints (above) I didn't re ink on the second time it was done with leftover ink.

I looked back at my sound page and found that people said that the sound produced was brown so I printed with brown although I feel it looks red. Brown is also the colour a violin is normally.

These are the first two testers that I did the black print was originally all connected but the rest broke off so the rest ended up on the other side.

few more films

The film below is my second attempt at over laying films. this went a lot better than the first one because at times i could see different peoples faces but only for a few moments and it all looks very faded.

This is a little bit experimental, i took a line from each person and cut it together i don't feel it worked to well though because the lines are very quick so it moves from one person to the next quickly so i don't really like it.

Do a- Do- female- a de-Do

I have been wanting to use sound in my project for quite some time now but never really knew how to utilise it. it also moved drastically away from what i'd call a visual communication piece and more to a fine art piece. After the prints of the instruments i made i looked at the book 'Soundings a Contemporary Score' which was about a gallery full of multiple artists (with different variations of the word artist). While i couldn't really find anything of ultimate interest but the concept of sound art is interesting. so i decided to move from instruments to the human instruments i.e vocals. i booked the studio and planned to film, draw and record people while they sang. i wasn't entirely sure of how this would go. it sounds like an out of tune, out of time choir this is partly because some didn't actually know the song which was Do, Re, Mi. 

The film was more successful i think but it could of been better because as i layered the films on top of each other by the fifth film i lost the first and by the end i had about only 3 being visible so i am going to redo this and try to alter the opacity, i feel it will be a combination of maths and trial and error in order to get it right.

Violin in a blue explosion

Using the bugle blasts as a base, after photocopying them I did what I did with the ukelele strumming; I printed a violin onto it in black to see how it looks.

I was surprised at how much the blast over powered even black so when i used red I almost lost it amongst the ink.

I tried bypass printing them this one was the wrong way round.This was the right way round but it just got over powered by the blue explosion
