Ink and stick drawings

These ink and stick drawings were a lot of fun to do and also produced some really creepy images thanks to the ink drops. The first three images were drawn on a1 strips of paper while the bottom image is drawn on a1 stretched paper so that it won't buckle. I wanted to try a Ms see what the differences are between what makes a creepy doll and what makes a pretty doll so two dolls on the strips I class as pretty while two get seen as rather creepy.

Circuses and dolls

The first image is a poster for a circus which has a large variety of freaks and unfortunate monster people of course this isn't real but the layout as well as the font is really nice and makes me think of a typical circus.
The image below was my first attempt at creating something under this theme needless to say it looks fairly naff. I like the image of the clown at the front but as a whole it doesn't work there's nothing there.

Very late review (I'm sorry!)

Very late and behind review of the past month
Over the past few weeks I have made several changes as well as progression in my project. In the first two weeks after the holiday within which I worked on developing a stereotypical posh woman I then went on to create a stereotypical hipster however I haven't been enjoying it lately as I have been judging people which isn't enjoyable and overall is quite negative. So after a peer review as well as a tutorial I shifted my focus, staying under the misconception title, from stereotypes to things that look nice while having a creepy look, atmosphere (this came from my original concept where the circus is very inviting with bright colours with a happy livelyness to it while in media and its past it is portrayed quite cruelly and twisted in very dark manner.
With that in mind over the past two weeks I have been drawing and working with dolls, puppets and clown decorations in a very creepy manner. I want to try and bring in the gaudy and bright colours that the circus presents to us while still having that ominous feel.

Hipsta variations

The hipster is made from another collaged image and then simplified into block colours working in the noma bar style again.

Hipster take three

Back on to the hipster imagery after redrawing the observational drawing of my friend I then cut it out and used the leftover with a sponge and acrylic paint to  create a clean line with the paint for the head and then stuck down a cut out a pair of glasses and a stretcher.
I want to add a hat to but I'm not to sure if it looks good as is. This is definitely my favourite version of the hipster that I've done so far

Posh Noma Bar Styled Colour Variations

After scanning in an image i made based off of a collaged image i'd done in my sketch book i tried altering the colour scheme of the image. i found that as i altered the colours the dress and shawl started looking like a tree reminding me of Noma bars images.

Review week 3

Started to develop the stereotyped and judgements, i took a drawing where i thought it was a wannabe thug, alcoholic and hipster and focused on one of my presumptions. started with the hipster as it was one of the least offensive feeling one. i gathered peoples opinion on what a stereotypical hipster looked like and worked on drawing the stereotypical character. as well as the hipster i started on a female stereotype of a posh character which resulted in a very different image of a posh woman than what i started with.
