unfortunately i forgot to do an over view of week 3 and i havent put much stuff up recently which i have so i will be posting that tomorrow, (that being the out of book work)
Week 3
i drew my singing teacher playing the sax while her husband played the double bass. i used multiple medias and different colours. it was while looking at these that i found i could look at the connection between colour and sound.
i made a short questionnaire of what are your three favourite instruments what sound do you feel it makes and what colour would you apply to these instruments and sounds. i printed around 20 of them.
Week 4
we did a collage work shop so i worked using the idea of combineing instruments with humans which wasnt very good at the start but when i started using different media they started looking quite nice.
i want to try looking at merging more objects and humans with instruments however i feel like I've come to a dead end and i didn't get much work done which im not happy about.

Over view of past week 2
Really two things happened last week that was the London trip and the Observational drawings of my singing teacher.
First the London trip
I went to the V and A and looked for instruments but unfortunately there were less than I expected being mostly forms of pianos (grand and harpsichord) and then I tried to combine the drawings with passers by which went okish.
Jam Session Observations
Yesterday I drew my singing teacher and her husband playing the sax and double bass which was so much fun to listen too I found that the double bass makes me think of deep green while the sax makes me think of a bright orange. When played together they seem to be bright green and strong red.
I also found out about an artist called jenny soep who draws musicians while they perform which I really like I have yet to add her to my book.
Other Jam Session Artwork
This piece is hard to see what it is because I used a thin pen on music scores that had just been painted with water colour I wanted to try it with a bit more variety. I used the brown and yellows because those are the colour of the instruments

I'm not sure about this one, I like its positioning and idea so musical scores and drawings seperate but the drawing seems very lack luster. I used the colour of the instruments sound but the drawing is very poor. It was first drawn in pencil then the chalk went on top.

I really don't like this one it's too basic and has no feeling to it. It's just grey and dull. I used grey to try and use more grey and black media but it was a bad idea.
Musical Jam Session
This picture was done on stretched paper. It is of my singing teacher and her husband playing the sax and the double bass.
I started by doing a rough drawing in pencil of them and then drew another one in pen, not going over the pencil but using it as a guideline so that the pen was proportionet (this was mainly for the double bass because it's massive).
I wanted to apply more colour so I used water colours on the instruments but it felt empty. Using chalk I drew blocks of the instrument heads.
I chose the colour of the chalk specific to the sound the instrument gave off. So a double bass produces a deep mellow tone which made think of the deep green while a sax is active and bright like the colour orange. I wish that the two of them were closer in the picture because they were in real life so I'm disappointed and the chalk became a bit over whelming.

Over View of the past week
i began my final major project (FMP) at college. In the FMP we can choose our own theme and for me i decided on music after much debate with both myself and the tutors. during the week i did observational drawings of-
- broken cello
- broken african drum
- broken violin
- ukelele
- some one playing the ukelele
- a saxaphone
- guitar
- guitar being played
- piano being played
- piano
i also decided to focus my theme on three things Jazz, Musicals and singing i have only written about jazz music a little.
I did a lot of collage using both the instruments as a starting point and my imagination.
